Podcasting BOAT – Pirate Radio Roots?

Now this is the way to combine work with leisure.

Thankfully the “On Air” Light was off so we didn’t have to be quiet – but I did wonder if anyone would have paid any attention anyway.

Little Venice in Paddington, London, is hardly deserted and on a marvellous sunny English Sunday afternoon the canal was busy and bustling.

Even so it was a peaceful spot and I imagine the main sound issues would be the gentle lapping of the water.

There were other barges and boats passing but they were mostly electric and moving slowly – but that didn’t stop one canal boat blasting out something from a construction industry friendly playlist as they passed.

The BoAt Pod is a real thing https://www.theboatpod.com/ Who knew?

It broadcasts online and has past broadcasts on their website too.

I wonder if it would be possible to do something similar in Australia…..???

England has a great history of water based radio. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirate_radio_in_the_United_Kingdom including these World War Two sea forts guarding the shipping channel at Kent which we could see on horizon and a long way off the coast from Tankerton.

This is one of the Maunsell forts. It’s not my photo and my uncle sent it to me. I’m not sure of the photographer but you get the idea! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maunsell_Forts
